My Sons shrimp boat passes Deer Island during the 92nd annual Blessing of the Fleet, May 30, 2021, in Biloxi, Mississippi. The Blessing of the Fleet is a 300-year-old Catholic tradition on the Gulf Coast. During the festivities, the local priest blesses the boats and their crews, praying for bountiful harvests, safe voyages, and protection of crew members during the upcoming shrimping season. A wreath is also dropped into the water in memory of fishermen who have died. The boats are typically decorated with colorful flags, pennants, signs, and other items. My Sons was awarded the Best Participation prize this year. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
