The Bridge of Lions is pictured, April 10, 2015, in St. Augustine, Florida. The Bridge of Lions is a double-leaf bascule bridge that spans the Intracoastal Waterway, connecting downtown St. Augustine to Anastasia Island across Matanzas Bay. The Bridge of Lions is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was included on the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s list of "11 Most Endangered Historic Sites" in the nation in 1997. The bridge is named for the two lions that stand at its entrance on the St. Augustine side. The lions are named “Fiel” and “Firme” or Faithful and Firm. The lions, copies of the Medici lions, are made of carrera marble. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
