The Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Passenger Terminal, also known as the GM&O Building, features a gargoyle or chimera, Nov. 6, 2021, in Mobile, Alabama. The historic train station was built in 1907 in the Mission Revival style. The Mobile and Ohio merged with the Gulf, Mobile and Northern Railroad in 1940 to form the Gulf, Mobile and Ohio Railroad. The last GM&O passenger trains passed through the station in 1958. The building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was vacated in 1986. The Alabama Historical Commission and the Alabama Trust for Historic Preservation named it one of their "Places in Peril" in 1996. The landmark underwent an $18 million renovation in 2001.
