A giant panda bear (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) munches on bamboo, September 8, 2015, at the Memphis Zoo in Memphis, Tennessee. The zoo features more than 3,500 animals representing more than 500 species; it is one of only four zoos in the nation to feature a panda exhibit. The two pandas at the zoo, Le Le and Ya Ya, have been leased from China since 2003, and their lease has been renewed through 2023. Panda bears can eat up to 80 pounds of bamboo a day. Pandas are an endangered species, with approximately 2,000 remaining in the wild and 375 living in captivity, as of 2013. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
