A wood carving of Confederate President Jefferson Davis is displayed at the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library, April 24, 2022, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Jefferson Davis served as the president of the Confederate States of America from 1861-1865. The library preserves and maintains personal papers , artifacts, and historic materials of Jefferson Davis as well as information and artifacts from the Civil War. It is not an official presidential library administered by the National Archives and Records Administration, as Davis never served as president of the United States. However, the 24,000-square-foot facility contains a number of historic documents and artifacts of interest to historians and students of the Confederacy during the Civil War. The museum is located on the grounds adjacent to Beauvoir, which served as the home of Jefferson Davis after the Civil War. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
