A Winslow Lewis lens is displayed at the Pensacola Lighthouse and Museum, Oct. 27, 2019, in Pensacola, Florida. The lens, built in 1810 by sea captain Winslow Lewis, uses the Argand Lamp as a base. It features a metal parabolic reflector behind the lamp to reflect the light and a plano-convex glass lens in front of the lamp to magnify the light and enable it to be visible at greater distances. In early lighthouses, these lamps were arranged in a reflector chandelier pattern to project light. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
