The new ferris wheel is pictured at Margaritaville Resort, Oct. 8, 2022, in Biloxi, Mississippi. The 20-story Italian ferris wheel arrived in June and will be part of Paradise Pier Fun Park, a new family attraction at Margaritaville. Biloxi is the home of Keesler Air Force Base and is a popular vacation destination due to its sandy beaches and numerous waterfront gambling casinos, which include Beau Rivage, Isle of Capri, and Grand Casino. Due to the proliferation of gambling, the Mississippi Gulf Coast is often called the "Poor Man's Riviera." Much of Biloxi's waterfront property along Scenic Highway 90 was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina Aug. 29, 2005, but as a result of revitalization efforts, recovery is now well underway.
