A historic marker in Lighthouse Park details the alleged alien abduction in 1973 of two Pascagoula shipyard workers, Oct. 4, 2022, in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker say they were fishing near dusk when a football-shaped spacecraft approached on Oct. 11, 1973. The men claim they were abducted by three creatures who took them aboard the vehicle and examined them before depositing them back on the riverbank. The UFO story prompted a flurry of local and national interest. The some called it a hoax, UFO experts say it remains the best documented case of alien abduction. (Photo by Carmen K.
