A scupture entitled, “Michelle” sits on the edge of a fountain in front of a painting, “Window Into the Past, French Market Yesteryear, Nov. 11, 2015, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Michelle, four feet tall and made of bronze, was sculpted by Paul Perret. The painting, created by Shakor, features depictions of famous New Orleanians at the French Market, including painted Edgar Degas, Rose Nicaud, the first free woman of color who ran a French Market coffeeshop; and voodoo queen Marie Laveau.
