Gulfport Arts Center is housed in a former Carnegie Library, April 2, 2023, in Gulfport, Mississippi. The building was constructed in 1917 in the Second Renaissance Revival architectural style. It served as a Carnegie Library until 1966 when a new library was built. More than 2,500 Carnegie libraries were built in the United States by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie from 1883 and 1929. Gulfport Arts Center is operated by the Gulfport Galleria of Fine Art, which was formed after Hurricane Katrina to share the work of local artists.
