Saint Philomena is pictured at Saint Matthews Catholic Church, Nov. 17, 2023, in Mobile, Alabama. Saint Phiomena was a virgin martyr whose remains were discovered in Rome in 1802. She was killed at the age of 13 after she refused to marry Emperor Diocletian. She was tortured, shot with arrows, and drowned with an anchor attached to her body. She is often pictured with a crown of roses, arrows, an anchor, and a palm leaf. She is the patron saint of infants, babies, and youth. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
