A male osprey sits beside the nest he shares with his mate atop a light pole, May 29, 2021, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Female ospreys lay between one and four eggs — typically three — in April or May. They tend to construct their nests atop dead trees, light poles, and other objects, and use the nest year after year. The nests, which tend to contain mainly sticks, can become up to 10 feet high as materials are added each season. The eggs will be incubated for approximately one month, and 40 days after fledging, the young osprey will begin to fly. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright
