A sign encourages drivers to spin their wheels or “do a burnout” during the 26th annual Cruisin’ the Coast antique car festival, Oct. 8, 2022, in Biloxi, Mississippi. The car show began in 1996 to celebrate antique, classic, and hot rod vehicles. More than 8,000 antique cars pre-registered this year, with thousands of others cruising up and down the 60-mile stretch of Highway 90 from Pascagoula, Mississippi to Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi during the week-long event. Cruisin’ the Coast is now the largest annual event in Mississippi, with an economic impact of more than $28 million. The event has won numerous awards including the Mississippi Governor’s Excellence in Tourism Award, Festival of the Year from the State of Mississippi and the Southeast Tourism Society, Best Car Show from USA Today, Southern Travel Treasure from AAA, and Restoration Event of the Year from the Automotive Restoration Market.
