A century-old shotgun house is repurposed and made available as an Airbnb vacation rental on Caroline Avenue in the Old Dauphin Way Historic District, March 30, 2021, in Mobile, Alabama. Shotgun houses are an architectural style prevalent in the American South from the end of the American Civil War through the 1920s. They are named for their long, narrow style, typically with a front door and back door aligned without hallways in such a way that one has to walk through each room to get to the next room. They are also called shotgun shacks, shotgun cottages, or row houses. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
