The Carnival Sensation is docked alongside GulfQuest Museum at the Alabama Cruise Terminal, May 14, 2021, in Mobile, Alabama. Crew members were in port to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Cruise travel was halted throughout the United States in Spring 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Mobile was previously the homeport for Carnival Fantasy, which was replaced at the port by Carnival Sensation. During the cruise hiatus, the Alabama Cruise Terminal was used as a mass vaccination site. Carnival Fantasy is expected to resume cruises from Mobile in July 2021. The cruise ship’s distinctive red, white, and blue whale tail funnel serves a purpose beyond marketing: The fins direct the ship’s exhaust fumes away from passengers on the deck. (Photo by Carmen K.
