A historic marker outside the Refugio County Courthouse gives the history of the courthouse, Sept. 29, 2017, in Refugio, Texas. The 1917 courthouse, built in a Mission style to reflect the town’s Spanish roots, was designed by architect Atlee B. Ayres. It was enlarged and renovated in 1951 in the Moderne architectural style.
