Madagascar periwinkles (Catharanthus roseus) and African marigolds (Tagetes erecta) bloom, Sept. 30, 2023, in Mobile, Alabama. Madagascar periwinkle is native to Madagascar but is grown elsewhere as an exotic and medicinal plant. It is endangered in the wild in some parts of the world and considered an invasive, noxious weed in other areas. All parts of the Madagascar periwinkle are poisonous, and it can be extremely toxic to humans if ingested. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
