A historic marker stands in front of the Boyington Oak, Feb. 19, 2021, in Mobile, Alabama. According to legend, in 1835 a local man, Charles Boyington, was hanged for murder. He proclaimed his innocence up until his death, saying that when he was buried an oak tree would grow from his heart to prove his innocence. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
