Wooden boards and safety straps keep the walls from collapsing inside the E. Barq Pop Factory, home of Barq’s root beer, Aug. 31, 2021, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Edward Barq created his popular Barq’s root beer at this site in 1898 and continued to produce it there until 1936 when operations moved to Lameuse Street. The 1898 wooden frame structure is also known as the Barq’s Pop Factory or Biloxi Artesian Bottling Works. Discussions are underway to turn the building into a Barq’s museum. The structure is located on the National Register of Historic Places. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
