The Fort Maurepas Park pavilion is pictured, July 1, 2021, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Fort Maurepas Park commemorates the fort built by French explorer Pierre Le Moyne D’Iberville, who first colonized the area in 1699. The original fort burned down in the 1700s and was never reconstructed. The park was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 but has since been rebuilt to include the pavilion, a playground, a splash pad, and a fishing pier. (Photo by Carmen K. Sisson/Cloudybright)
