Biloxi City Hall A historic plaque tells the history of Biloxi City Hall on Lameuse Street, May 22, 2022, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Biloxi City Hall was built in 1908 and served as the U.S. post office, courthouse, and customhouse. It was designed by architect James Knox Taylor in the Classical Revival architectural style. The building is constructed of 1,200 tons of marble reinforced with galvanized iron clamps. The $100,000 building was predicted to withstand hurricanes, earthquakes, and other events for at least 1,000 years. Biloxi City Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was hailed by National Register officials as “the finest documented building in the state of Mississippi.” (Photo by Carmen K.
