Sweet potato casserole is served at The Shed Barbeque and Blues Joint, July 4, 2021, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Sweet potato casserole is a traditional Southern side dish made with mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar, and pecans. It is often served in Southern barbecue restaurants and is a crowd favorite at The Shed. Owners Brad Orrison and his sister, Brooke Orrison Lewis, opened the restaurant in August 2001 as a tiny, 300-square-foot, take-out shed. Within five years, it had turned into a sprawling, 10,000-square-foot food experience, smoking more than a ton and a half of meat per day. The restaurant has been featured on a number of television channels including The Food Network, The Travel Channel, The History Channel, Spike TV, and The Discovery Channel. (Photo by Carmen K.
