Leatherleaf mahonia (Mahonia bealei) blooms at Bellingrath Gardens, March 4, 2022, in Theodore, Alabama. Leatherleaf mahonia, also known as Beale’s barberry, originated in China but is grown as an ornamentl in other countries as well.
